Thank you to my lovely grandchildren for showing your support!

Family and Friends Support

Thank you to my extended family (Phyllis and kids) who took the time to wear RED today.  You all make me very proud!

2011 National Wear Red Day, Friday Feb 4

Well, here we are again.  Thank God I am here one more year!  Funny thing...I don't care so much about my birthday in February as I do that the AHA promotes "Go Red For Women"!  Lots of luncheons, people wearing RED everywhere, and oh yes, don't forget all the 5K and 10K Walks and Runs!  Today I will be attending a local luncheon for the "Love your heart" organization here in New Braunfels.  Our guest speaker is Ursala Perri from Channel 12 News.  I have asked all my friends and family on Facebook to send me pictures of them wearing red today in support of this campaign.

Also, for the first time in many years, we all got snow today!  Although many people are not getting out, I for one, will not allow a little white powder to keep me from attending this luncheon!

A Heartfelt Mission

On November 28, 2010, I had surgery to implant yet a second stent in my heart.  I have made it my personal mission to finish out the next 50 years of my life HEALTHY! I have several huge obstacles to overcome and the hardest is to stop smoking, second is disciplining myself to working out 30 minutes twice a day on the elliptical, and the third is to completely revamp my diet!  I have smoked for decades so this as they say, "will be my finest hour" when I finally kick the habit. Although I do not have a 'bad diet', I simply do not eat the right foods.  We rarely dine out and I absolutely despise fast food, so getting the diet revamped should not be too difficult, I think.  I do these things not just for me, but for all those I love.  Robert, my husband of 11 years,  literally saved my life twice.  I started this blog in hopes that my experiences will encourage others to follow suit, including Robert.  This blog will keep you posted on my journey to success!

Great find at Amazon!

If you are truly serious about having a more healthy nutritional lifestyle, read Integrative Nutrition by Joshua Rosenthal!  Also, The Whole Truth by Andrea Beaman.  These two are on my "current" reading list, thank you AMAZON.COM for getting me the best price!
